About the role:
Dear Grain is seeking a Part time Assistant Manager who will lead our front-of-house team and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Support daily shop operations, including opening/closing, inventory, staff coordination, and maintaining cleanliness. Engage with customers, showcase our products, and ensure smooth, efficient service at all times. This position is for an existing vacancy.
Key Responsibilities:
Our shop is the front-facing showcase of our bakery, offering everything we bake alongside hot sandwiches and coffee. As part of our team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing daily shop operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Educating customers about our products and engaging with them warmly
- Providing excellent customer service with a friendly, positive attitude
- Preparing coffee and beverages as a barista according to our standards and menu
- Restocking inventory and ensuring all products are available and well-presented
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the shop
- Managing inventory and supporting manager on ordering
- Support manager in covering staff absences
- Cover Manager Responsibility during Holiday and Illness
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of strong retail and barista experience
- Can occasionally lift 50lb flour bags
- Experience in store operations and team coordination
- Caring and professional when interacting with clients and team members
- Fluent in English with clear and professional communication
- Responsible, Reliable, punctual with a strong work ethic
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with POS systems
Pay & Schedule:
- Part-time to start, approximately 20–28 hours per week, with the potential for a gradual increase in hours and a transition toward full-time availability in early spring, subject to business needs
- Availability to work at least one weekend day is required
- Hourly wage: $19.50–$21.00, based on relevant skills and experience

Compensation
$19.50 - $21.00 per hour
